“Apero” is a Yoruba word that means gathering, meeting, or dialogue.
“Mekunu” means the common people, the masses, The Average people.
Together, Apero Mekunu translates to “a gathering or dialogue of the common people in Oyo state.”

On November 8, 2025, Iseyin will host the Mekunu Marathon. It will be a day of energy, unity and purpose as people come together to run for freedom and change.

On December 13, 2025, Ibadan will welcome the Mekunu Marathon. The race promises excitement and solidarity as the city gathers for the largest run of the series.
